The Rohit Sharma stand has been inaugurated at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Mumbai Cricket Association has inaugurated four newly renamed stands at the Stadium today at 4:30 PM The new stands are attributed to Rohit Sharma, Sharad Pawar, and Ajit Wadekar for their contribution to cricket. Along with this, another stand, the MCA Office Lounge, was also unveiled in memory of former MCA President Amol Kale.

MCA officially inaugurated the stand on Friday in the presence of Rohit Sharma and his family, including his wife and Parents. Rohit invited his parents on stage and then pressed the buzzer altogether to inaugurate the stand, making it a wholesome moment. The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries like Sharad Pawar and the Maharashtra chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis

“It will be a surreal feeling when I come here and play for the Mumbai Indians. It will even get special when I represent the country, whenever that happens,” Rohit said at the ceremony. “To have this honour in front of my family, my mom and dad, my brother and his wife, and my wife — very special people in my life — and I’m so grateful for things they have sacrificed for me to stand here,” he added, visibly moved by the occasion.

“Of course, not to forget, my very special team, Mumbai Indians is also here. I’m pretty sure they are waiting for my speech to get over so they can start training! Thank you for coming here and supporting,” said Rohit.

He also thanked the association for the gesture. “Special thanks to Sharad Pawar sahab and Fadnavis sir for being here, and making it very special. I will never forget this day. Thank you to all the MCA members for this honour.”

The Divecha Pavilion Level 3 has been renamed to the Rohit Sharna stand today and The Grand Stand Level 3 will bear the name of former BCCI president Sharad Pawar, while Grand Stand Level 4 will be dedicated to Ajit Wadekar, the former India captain.

With the stand in his name, Today Rohit Sharma has joined a list of his fellow cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Vijay Merchant, who also have stands named after them at the Wankhede Mumbai.
