Rachin Ravindra Shocked as Militant-Backed Party Supporter Invades Field in Rawalpindi

A shocking incident happened in the 6th match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as a militant-backed supporter invaded the Rawalpindi pitch and hugged Rachin Ravindra during the New Zealand vs Bangladesh game. The incident raises alarming security concerns as Pakistan is hosting an ICC event after 29 years. 

TLP Supporter Invades Rawalpindi pitch during New Zealand vs Bangladesh match 

Rachin Ravindra was playing a crucial inning for his team after losing two early wickets chasing a total of 236 when a man breached the security and entered the Rawalpindi field with a picture of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) leader image in his hands. TLP is an Islamist party banned by the government in 2021. 

The pitch invader hugged Rachin Ravindra and waved the image. However, guards catch him after but the incident raises major concerns about the security of players.

Additionally, there is a report of the potential terrorist attacks in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, as according to rumors, some terrorist groups are planning to kidnap foreigners attending the tournament. Now this incident raises high alarms, and Pakistan is currently on high alert. 

Notably, Pakistan is hosting an ICC event after 29 years. India already denied travel to Pakistan due to security concerns and is playing their matches in the UAE. However, the other six teams agreed to play in the country. 

Rachin Ravindra’s brilliant century guides New Zealand to victory

After the pitch-invading incident, Rachin Ravindra stayed calm and scored match match-winning inning of 112 runs off just 105 balls including 12 fours and 1 six.  Michael Bracewell also performed amazingly well, helping New Zealand to beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets. 

With this Kiwi’s victory in Rawalpindi, both New Zealand and India are qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals, while Bangladesh and host team Pakistan were knocked out, losing both of their first two matches, respectively.
