Pakistan announced 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, scheduled from September 30 to November 2. Fast bowler and all-rounder Fatima Sana has been named captain and will lead Pakistan for the first time in a World Cup. The squad was finalized after training sessions in Lahore.

Fatima, 23, had earlier captained the national team during the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in April 2025, also held in Lahore. Under his leadership, Pakistan won all their matches in the qualifying stage, securing their place in this year’s World Cup. All of Pakistan’s group matches will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the semi-final and final also set at the same venue.

New faces in the squad

Six players are set to make their ODI World Cup debut this year. They are Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, and Syeda Aroob Shah are set to feature in their maiden ODI World Cup. In addition, uncapped right-handed batter Eyman Fatima has been included in the squad. She recently made her T20I debut against Ireland and is expected to strengthen the batting lineup.

Two changes were made from the team that played in the Qualifier. Eyman Fatima and Sadaf Shamas have replaced Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who will now be part of the non-traveling reserves along with Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

The players will begin a two-week training camp in Lahore starting August 29. During the camp, the team will go through practice sessions and 50-over matches under head coach Mumahmmad Wasim. Before the World Cup, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series from September 16 to 22 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
