The 2025 Men’s Asia Cup is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to September 28, featuring eight teams in the T20I format. The tournament will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The eight participating teams include full members Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, who qualify automatically, alongside UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, who earned their spots through the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. With the tournament approaching, all teams have confirmed their Asia Cup Squads, and Oman has now officially announced their 17-member squad for the first time in Asia Cup history.

Jatinder Singh to lead the debutant squad

Oman will be led by Indian Origin player Jatinder Singh, who will captain the side, while Hammad Mirza is expected to serve as his deputy. The squad blends experience and youth, featuring seasoned players like Mohammad Nadeem, Vinayak Shukla, and Hassnain Ali Shah, who will provide stability to both the batting and bowling units. Additionally, four players, Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan, are set to make their international debut.

It will be Oman’s first-ever appearance at the Asia Cup and head coach Duleep Mendis is excited to see what the side can achieve.

“It is real that we are participating in the Asia Cup – a major tournament and a fantastic opportunity for our players to showcase their skills on a global stage,” Mendis said.

“Playing against teams like India and Pakistan is a moment to embrace for any cricketer. Anything can happen in a fast-paced T20 game, where one over of brilliance can change everything. Oman enters the Asia Cup with a blend of experience and youth, determined to leave a mark against Asia’s cricketing powerhouses. The tournament will not only test their skills but also their mental toughness on one of the most-watched platforms in the sport,” he added
