India won the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand by 4 Wickets. Remaining unbeaten for the whole of the tournament, Men In Blue celebrated the win with each member posting photos of the tournament. All posted about the win but one remained silent, Virat Kohli. He didn’t share any moment with the trophy on his social media and has quietly enjoyed the win.
Talking at the Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli finally revealed why he didn’t share any of social media posts after the Champions Trophy Triumph. He shared the reason behind it and also shared his perspective on social media and his approach to online interaction.
“Posting about us winning the Champions Trophy is not going to increase the happiness in my heart. They all know that we’ve won the trophy, so me posting about it is not going to give us two trophies. The reality is going to stay the same. I look at it like that. People saying ‘oh, you’re amazing’ in the comments doesn’t matter,” he said.
Virat Kohli on Social Media Presence
Kohli shared his thoughts and revealed his reason for not posting on social media. “The Kind of attention you get & the kind of traction you receive when you put something out there on a platform is quite unbelievable to be honest – it’s quite intense – hence I don’t engage in posts a lot these days. A lot of people are not happy about that but that is something that I have consciously tried to do”. He shared that Social media technology is powerful but anything without a goal is wasteful and harmful.
The last time Virat Kohli posted non-sponsored content on his handle was on July 4 last year, when the T20 World Cup-winning team visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. Kohli only shares sponsored and paid partnership posts on his social media and doesn’t expose much of his private life on his handle.
Virat Kohli and IPL 2025
Kohli has now joined the pre Camp for the IPL 2025, and now would be seen in the practice sessions before the actual commencement of the 2025 season. Amongst these, Kohli has made a grand entry for the 18th edition which went viral in just a few minutes of the video release.
The Red Army will start the season with their first match against KKR at Eden Garden on 22 March 2025.
