With the Asia Cup 2025 approaching soon, Cricket boards across Asia have started announcing their squads for the upcoming tournament. India and Pakistan have already confirmed their team, and now the Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) has announced its 16-member squad for the multi-nation event. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates.
Before the Asia Cup begins, Bangladesh will play a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands on August 30, September 1, and 3 in Sylhet. This series will give the team important match practice and help the captain and selectors finalize the best playing XI ahead of the tournament. The squad is a mix of experienced players and young talents, aiming to continue Bangladesh’s positive run in the recent T20Is, which included series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
One of the biggest surprises in the squad is the addition of wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan, who last played a T20I for Bangladesh during the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. His recall is aimed at strengthening the middle order and adding depth to the squad. Saif Hasan has also returned to the national T20I setup after last playing in the 2023 Asian Games.
Litton Das to lead Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2025
Litton Das has been named captain for the Asia Cup 2025. He recently led Bangladesh to series victories against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Das has scored over 1000 runs in international T20 cricket at a strike rate of around 125. He provides stability in the middle order while also being able to accelerate the run rate and innings whenever needed.
Former T20I captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and experienced all-rounder Mehdiy Hasan Miraz were not included in the main Squad. Mehidy Hasan has been listed as a standby player along with Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud.
