IND vs PAK WCL Semi-Final Cancelled

The WCL 2025 has reached its knockout stage of the tournament with four teams, India Champions, Pakistan Champions, Australia Champions, and South Africa Champions making it to the playoffs of the 2nd edition. Known for bringing the retired players back to the cricket field, WCL brought all the retired players back on the field once again to the live cricketing action. With the semi-final fixtures being made live the much of the tension was the fixture between India and Pakistan, which was set to be played in semi-final 1.

But with the recent developments around the game, political tensions, public boycott, sponsors, and Players’ withdrawal, the match between India and Pakistan has been cancelled, and now there won’t be any semi-final 1 match to play between the teams. The India Champions players have withdrawn from the match and are likely to submit written letters to the management over the withdrawal within an hour.

No IND vs PAK WCL 2025 Semi-Final: Why was the match cancelled?

The Indian players have decided not to take part in the semi-final match against the Pakistan Champions in the 2025 World Championship of Legends (WCL). The game was supposed to be played in Birmingham on July 31. This is now the second time a match between the two sides has been cancelled during the tournament. Their earlier group stage match was also called off when Indian players chose not to play. The decision comes after rising tensions between the two countries, especially following the Pahalgam attack in April that killed 22 people.

India Champions, who made it to the knockout with struggle and only one win, were scheduled for a clash against the Pakistan Champions as per the tournament’s structure. According to which the table toppers will face the number four team sitting on the points table. So, as of the WCL 2025 Points table standings, India finished in the number 4, meanwhile, Pakistan Champions stood on number one and were now scheduled to face each other in the semi-final 1 match on 31st July.

But given the political tensions, India’s stance and boycott from the public and sponsors have shifted for this move. ALthough official stand and statements are yet to be released for the same.
