The International Cricket Council has announced the prize money for the World Test Championship 2023-25 on Thursday for all ten participating teams of the cycle, which will conclude in the next month with a final scheduled between South Africa and Australia. The WTC final will be played from June 11 to 15 and will be played at the iconic Lord’s ground.
This time, ICC has significantly increased, or rather, doubled the prize pool of the championship. The winner of the league will walk away with a prize money of USD 3.6 million, more than double that of the winners in the last two cycles. The runners-up, meanwhile, will bag more than USD 2.1 million, while the prize for the same in the previous editions was USD 800,000. An increase in the money is a constant effort to keep the Test Cricket format alive.
“The increase in prize money exhibits the ICC’s efforts to prioritize Test cricket as it looks to build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition,” the ICC said in its release.

India has not qualified for the final of the World Test Championship for the first time since its inception and was eliminated after losing to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. India did walk away with the runner-up’s prize money in its last two editions, but this time they ended up in third spot in the WTC rankings. So after finishing in the third position, India will get a prize money of approx Rs 12.31 crore INR and 1,440,000 in USD, which is almost double the runner-up’s amount of the last two editions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, which finished in the ninth spot of the rankings, will get Rs 4.11 crore or 480,000 USD. This edition, they finished last with a PCT of only 27.98. In comparison to India, they will get only 33% of what India will get for the WTC 2023-25 Edition.
