The venue for the upcoming clash between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians has been shifted to the ground of the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, amidst the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. Originally scheduled to be played at the Dharamsala ground on May 11, the match venue has been relocated to Ahmedabad due to Operation Sindoor. The Gujarat Cricket Association is also being informed and involved in the process.

Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed the development to Sportstar, stating: “Since the match had to be shifted at the last minute, the BCCI asked if we could host it, and we have formally informed them that we are ready.” The date of the match will remain unchanged and the match will be played on the same date as the previous schedule which is May 11.

Earlier Mumbai was considered as an alternative for the match but now Gujarat’s Modi stadium has been announced as the new fixture venue. This has been done to ensure that neither team gets an undue advantage of the home conditions and gets a neutral venue for the upcoming clash.

Logistics challenge for Punjab Kings for the PBKS vs MI Clash

Due to the shutdown of the Dharamsala and nearby airports due to operation Sindoor, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals players are in a logistical nightmare to get out of the Dharamsala. A team official has confirmed that players’ comfort is kept in mind as there is not much time in the fixtures and the teams are navigating all possible options for their comfort.

“We need to keep players’ comfort in mind. We need to navigate the hilly area using the smaller buses. So there is a plan to possibly break the journey into two parts but nothing final yet. A call will be taken by the evening because there could be a possibility of both PBKS and DC starting their journey right after the match. There is a railway station some two hours from the ground, even that is being explored. But as I said, players’ comfort is of utmost importance. We can’t burn them out with travel,” explains the official.
