Mumbai Indians made history by winning the WPL 2025, defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in a thrilling final at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. With this victory, MI became the most successful team in WPL history, securing two titles in three seasons. Notably, they defeated Delhi Capitals in both their championship-winning campaigns in 2023 and 2025 and DC lost their third final in a row. 

Mumbai Indians won their second WPL title

Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 runs to lift their second WPL title thanks to an amazing 66-run innings of captain Harmanpreet Kaur and amazing all-round performances from Nat Sciver Brunt with 30 runs and important 3 wickets of Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kap, and Shikha Pandey.

The campaign has been amazing for Mumbai Indians; they lost just three matches out of 10 this season. Both Purple and Orange Caps also won by MI players. Nat Sciver Brunt won the Orange Cap with 523 runs, and Amelia Kerr won the Purple Cap with 18 wickets.

WPL 2025 Final Summary 

Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first in Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews got out very early, and Nat Sciver Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur controlled the inning, and thanks to the captain’s 66 runs off 44 balls, the Mumbai Indians managed to put up a target of 150 against Delhi in the final. Jess Jonassen, Shree Charani, and Marizanne Kapp took 2 wickets each while Annabel Sutherland took 1 wicket. 

Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, one of the best opening pairs of this season, failed to make an impact in the final game and got out under the powerplay. Then Delhi loses a wicket on the interval. However, Jemimah Rodrigues played well in the middle with 31 runs in a crucial inning. At the end, Marizanne Kapp played a fighting knock of 40 runs off just 26 balls, but in the end, it was Mumbai’s bowlers who won the 2nd WPL title for their team.
