In One Day International (ODI) cricket, the toss is an important part of the game. The team that wins the toss gets to decide whether to bat or bowl first, which can affect the match result. Winning the toss is always a 50-50 chance, but sometimes, even the law of averages doesn’t seem to apply when a captain keeps losing tosses continuously for a long time. India loses the most consecutive, 14 tosses from 19 November 2023. The Netherlands lost 11 while England, the USA, the West Indies, and Australia lost 9 tosses in a row, respectively.

Rohit Sharma 3rd in losing most consecutive tosses in ODIs

India captain Rohit Sharma is 3rd in the list of losing the most tosses in a row in ODIs, as he lost the toss against Australia on March 4 in the 1st semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. From 19 November 2023, in the Cricket World Cup 2019 Final, Rohit lost 11 tosses in a row against different teams.
