With the IPL 2025 resuming on May 17, Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the upcoming clash on Saturday. However after suspension, teams are dealing with the unavailability issue of the many overseas players due to their national team’s commitment, and among such is KKR’s star Moeen Ali. Team’s all-rounder has opted out of the KKR for the remainder of the season.  The knights confirmed on Thursday that both Moeen Ali and Rovman Powell will not be available for the final of the league stage matches.

Why has Moeen Ali pulled out of the IPL 2025?

Moeen Ali has officially pulled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League, citing personal reasons. KKR has secured the services of an English cricketer for an amount of Rs 2 crore in the mega auction last year, and he has been a significant player in KKR’s IPL 2025 Journey so far. He has been part of six matches where he has picked up six wickets and also scored five runs from his two batting appearances for the purple army side.

According to the Franchise statement, Moeen Ali, along with Rovman Powell, couldn’t join the league due to medical reasons. “All KKR Players and Support Staff have arrived in Bangalore, except Rovman Powell & Moeen Ali. Both Powell and Ali couldn’t come back due to medical reasons. Rovman is undergoing a procedure, while Moeen and his family are down with a viral infection. We wish them good health and a quick recovery,” the franchise said.

Meanwhile, Moeen and Povwell miss out on the remainder of the season, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell have joined the team after the suspension. They will be available for the rest of the season, providing a major boost to the team as the team is set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday.
