KL Rahul IPL Teams: All from 2008 to 2025

Kannur Lokesh Rahul, Popularly known as KL Rahul in the cricketing world. Over the years since inception KL Rahul has made an eventful journey. Playing for multiple teams, Rahul comes with wide experience and has proved his worth multiple times not just in IPL but in all teams he has been part of. 

KL made his IPL debut in 2013, and since then, he has played for multiple franchises. Known for his elegant stroke play and ability to deliver when needed the most, Rahul has showcased his ability to dominate opposition bowlers in the shortest format.

List of KL Rahul IPL Teams

IPL 2013 Team: Royal Challenger Bengaluru

KL Rahul started his IPL career with his home city team, RCB. Playing his opening season with RCB, he stayed with the team only for a year and then joined the SRH for another season. Playing with RCB he managed to score 132 runs in 5 matches.

He later again joined RCB in the year 2016-2017 and had a breakthrough season in the same year. Playing for his home team, he scored a total of 397 runs in 14 matches. He scored his highest individual score of 68, which further helped the team to secure a spot in the final. Although he contributed a good score, he almost missed the entire season due to a shoulder injury.

IPL 2014 Team: Sunrisers Hyderabad

After KL finished a good opening season with RCB, he was picked up by the SRH the following season in the year 2014. He was bought for an amount of 1 Crore. Joining SRH for the season, Rahul played 20 matches across two seasons, scoring 308 runs with a highest score of 462. But failed to meet the team’s need and was released by the franchise.

IPL 2018-2021 Team: KXIP or Punjab Kings

KL Rahul reached the peak of his career while playing with KXIP, now called Delhi Capitals. Rahul was picked up by the franchise for a whopping amount of INR 11 crores. He remained with the franchise till 2021 and also captained the team. Being with the team in the year 2018, Rahul had a stellar season and won the orange cap for most runs, scoring a total of 659 runs. He continued his impressive form in the following seasons, scoring 593 runs in 2019 and 670 runs in 2020. Rahul was appointed as the captain of PBKS in 2020.

IPL 2022-2024 Team: Lucknow Super Giants

He was then traded to LSG in the Mega auction 2022, The franchise bought him for an amount of INR 17 Crores and was handed over the leadership for the team. Under his captaincy, LSG reached the playoffs in 2022 but was knocked out. Following the season, in 2023 KL Rahul was ruled out due to injury. Later in the 2024 season, the captain didn’t have a great season and the team was ruled out before reaching the playoffs.

IPL 2025 Team: Delhi Capitals

For the upcoming 2025 IPL season, KL Rahul has been bought by Delhi Capitals for an amount of 14 crore in the mega auction 2024. This year the team leadership can be handed over to him with hopes of taking it to the finals of the 2025 season. Although the team is yet to announce its skipper for the IPL 2025 Season officially.
