Jasprit Bumrah, arguably one of the best all-format active bowlers in the world, is currently recovering from his lower back injury in BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore. Now according to Time of India, the pacer may miss the first two weeks of the upcoming IPL 2025 season starting from 22 March.

After missing the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Jasprit Bumrah may also miss the first two weeks of the IPL 2025, as he is expected to join the Mumbai Indians squad in April.

TOI’s BCCI source said, “Bumrah’s medical reports are okay. He has resumed bowling at the CoE. However, it is unlikely he’ll be able to bowl at the start of the IPL in another fortnight. As per the current status, the first week of April looks like a more realistic date for him to get back to high-intensity cricket.”

This is a huge blow for five-time IPL-winning team Mumbai Indians, as Bumrah is their prime bowler, who was retained by the team at INR 18 crore as the top retention. Bumrah is the key to MI’s bowling attack, including names like Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Mitchell Santner.

Jasprit Bumrah has played a total of 133 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians and took 165 wickets with an average of 22.51 and economy of just 7.30.
