Ishant Sharma has been found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct and has been fined 25 % of the match fees along with one demerit point. The Gujarat Titans Pacer conceded 53 runs in his four-over spell, and was penalized under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code. Ishant Sharma acknowledged his breach and accepted the fine imposed by the match referee without appeal. The incident occurred during the Gujarat Titans’ match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday. Under IPL regulations, decisions on Level 1 breaches are final and binding, with no further review process, and such decisions are solely within the purview of the on-field umpires and match referee.

Code of Conduct Breach – Match 20: SRH vs GT

IPL released an official media advisory regarding the incident which read, “Ishant Sharma, Bowler, Gujarat Titans has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.

Ishant Sharma admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.

For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

While the exact reason for his fine remains unclear,  the offense for which he was found guilty can likely be attributed to Pacer’s visible frustration after bowling an expensive spell. Ishant conceded 53 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket and appeared really unhappy with his performance. He was fined under Article 2.2, which deals with abuse of any game gear during the match. Ishant has accepted both the fine and demerit point, acknowledging the offense without filing an appeal.

GT steps on Points Table ladder

Although the pacer conceded quite a few runs, it was ultimately a collective team effort that helped Gujarat Titans secure a 7-wicket victory over SRH. First, Mohammed Siraj dismantled SRH’s batting lineup with his IPL career-best bowling figures. Then, Captain Gill and Washington Sundar’s batting masterstroke guided the team to comfortably chase down the target of 153 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
