Royal Challengers Bengaluru were set to face Punjab Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, but fate had a different plan for the teams. The toss for Match 34 of the ongoing IPL was set to take place at 7:00 PM, but was delayed due to rain in the match.

So far, it has been a strange season for the Royal Challengers from Bengaluru. Invincible away from home with four wins out of four games, and vulnerable at home with two losses from two matches. They’re back at the Chinnaswamy today, and they’ll hope to put an end to their losing streak at home. On the other hand, Punjab Kings have also been in dominant form and are coming from a match of impressive win against KKR, where they defended their lowest total of the IPL season.

Current weather situation at the Chinnaswamy Stadium!

It has been raining in the Bengaluru for last one week and tonight is no different. It has been raining every day from last week and it wasn’t any different today as well – thick dark clouds in the evening which brought about some rain with it. Toss get delayed and still is delayed as it’s raining in the city and ground is under covers. We always have that one rain interrupted game in Bengaluru every IPL season and this could be one such day.

It is important to note that Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for having a great drainage system called the SubAir system. It helps remove water from the field very quickly, which means the ground can be ready soon to play after the rain stops.

What If RCB vs PBKS Gets Washed Out?

The umpires will wait until 11:30 PM to start the game and by that time if rain doesn’t stop, the match will be abandoned as there is no reserve day in group stage matches, and will be called a “NO RESULT” match and both the teams will be awarded one point each. Both the teams will move on the points table with one point but there would be no difference in NRR.
