IPL 2025: Punjab Kings face a major setback as Lockie Ferguson is ruled out for the remainder of the season

Punjab Kings Pacer, Lockie Ferguson, has been ruled out of the remainder IPL 2025 season after an injury. Ferguson suffered an injury during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he just bowled two deliveries and was forced off the field during the sixth over of the innings.

Although details around the injury haven’t been revealed, and are yet to be known. Punjab Kings bowling coach James Hopes informed that Ferguson will most likely be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL. Ferguson is out indefinitely, and the chances of us getting him back by the end of the tournament are very slim, I would have thought. I think he has sustained a pretty serious injury,” Hopes said on the eve of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ferguson was getting on a good track for the team and was having a good time in season. He has picked up five wickets in four matches with an average of 20.80 and an economy rate of 9.17

Who can replace Lockie Ferguson in PBKS?

The Punjab squad has a lot of options who could replace him in the Playing XI. They have Australian seamer Xavier Bartlett and Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai among the overseas options, while Vijaykumar Vyshak is the Indian seamer  who can be used as his replacement in the squad

“We’re sitting at 3-2, which is a good spot in the competition, and we’ve got a big week coming up against the same two opponents, KKR and RCB. That’s just the way the schedule has worked out for us. We’ve got them for the next four games. So if we can have a good week, we’re going to be well-placed going into the second half of the tournament,” Hopes added.

Punjab is scheduled to play against defending champions KKR on 15 April. Currently, the team is placed sixth in the points table with three wins in five matches, only behind KKR, who have three wins in six matches and are fifth.
