BCCI has finally announced the new schedule of the Indian Premier League and now the league will resume from 17 May after a week of suspension. The league was suspended midway during the PBKS vs DC match at HPCA ground due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. The BCCI released the revised schedule on Monday late night, however an official announcement regarding the finals venue is still awaited.

With the recent development around the league, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering shifting the IPL 2025 final to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, moving it from the originally planned venue of Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. As per the Cricbuzz news, the potential change in the venue can be completely attributed to the weather conditions. As the board is closely monitoring the monsoon’s movement across the country before finalising the schedule.

As for the playoffs, BCCI is looking for Mumbai as a potential option but the final decision will be made according to the weather and monsoon arrival. If there are high chances of rain then the BCCI can look to  a North venue like Delhi, Jaipur or even Lucknow as they are unlikely to be affected by rain till the playoffs.

The BCCI has decided not to shift the IPL 2025 playoffs to new cities, opting instead for venues among the six already scheduled — Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, and Bengaluru — to avoid the logistical and financial burden of setting up broadcasting infrastructure elsewhere. Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mohali, and Dharamsala were excluded due to limited remaining home games, weather concerns, and regional tensions. Teams like CSK and SRH will now play their remaining games in Delhi.

The IPL is resuming on May 17 and it will have 17 games post break. Six centres – Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur – will be hosting the games. The revised schedule includes only two double headers, both on Sundays. Qualifier 1 and Eliminator are scheduled to be played on May 29 and 30 respectively. The second qualifier will be played on June 1.
