43-year-old MS Dhoni is set to play his 18th IPL season from Chennai Super Kings starting from 22 March. Now the exciting news comes out as MS Dhoni is reportedly going to use lighter weight bats in the IPL 2025. This is a piece of shocking news for fans, as they used to see him playing with regular weight bats during his playing days to hit big sixes all over the park.

MS Dhoni to play with 1230 grams bats in IPL 2025

According to New India Express, MS Dhoni might use lighter bats in IPL 2025, weighing around 1230 grams. Previously, he used bats weighing between 1250 and 1300 grams. “Four bats have been delivered to Dhoni recently by Sanspareils Greenlands Pvt. Ltd., the cricket equipment company from Meerut,” the report said.

Lesser weight bats can help Dhoni to hit shots easily. Notably, the right-handed batter is a 43-year-old who has retired from international cricket in 2020. Now he is going to play one more season for CSK.

MS Dhoni will be in action in the 3rd match of the IPL 2025 between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on 23 March at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The Ranchi boy has played 264 IPL matches, scoring 5243 runs with an average of 39.12 and a strike rate of 137.53, including 24 half centuries. He captained Chennai Super Kings from  2008 to 2023 and handed over the leadership to young Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2024. In his leadership, CSK played 235 matches and won 142. The wicketkeeper batter leads the team to five IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
