IPL 2025: Jofra Archer Record for Most Expensive spell in IPL history

Jofra Archer records IPL’s most expensive spell, conceding 76 runs in 4 overs vs SRH, surpassing Mohit Sharma’s previous record of 73 runs in IPL 2024.

Facing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match 2 of the ongoing Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals have played an expensive innings of the IPL History. Jofra Archer who has returned to the season after a gap of 4 years recorded the most expensive spell  in Indian Premier League history and paid the team their costliest inning total.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals opted to field. Coming on the batting side Hyderabad opened with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Both started their explosive show and took the team to a master stroke play smashing boundaries and boundaries.

Most Expensive Spell of the IPL History

Archer started its bowling attack against Head soon after Theekshana dismantled Abhishek Sharma. Giving a total of 23 runs in his first over, Jofra bowled a very expensive spell in his first over after the comeback in the fourth over of the innings.  Coming for his second over he bowled the 11th over where he gave another total of 12 runs with 2 fours in the over. Further, he gave 22 runs in the 13th over and then finally added a total of 23 coming in the 18th over. 

Archer’s rough day started in the PowerPlay when Travis Head hammered him for 23 runs in an over, including four fours and a six. His struggles continued as Ishan Kishan smashed three sixes off his third over. In his final over, Archer conceded five fours, including a waist-high no-ball that raced away for four byes, capping off a forgettable outing.

Bowling a total of four overs Archer gave a total of 76 runs becoming the most expensive bowler in the IPL History. He delivered the most expensive spell, breaking the record of Mohit Sharma who earlier gave a total of 73 runs for Gujarat Titans against Delhi Capitals in the past IPL 2024 season.
