Gautam Gambhir, the Indian Cricket team’s head coach, received death threats from a group identifying themselves as “ISIS Kashmir”. The threats to him were sent over an email with a message, “We are going to kill you and your family.”, After this, the coach reported this to the police, and security around his house has been heightened in New Delhi.

“Former BJP MP and current head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, received a death threat from ‘ISIS Kashmir’. On Wednesday, he approached the Delhi Police, filing a formal complaint for an FIR and seeking measures to safeguard his family’s security,” the Office of Gautam Gambhir said, as per India Today.

Following the Email threat, Gambhir has filed an FIR in the Rajendra Nagar police station, investigation for the matter has begun but formal case is yet to be registered in the court and cyber cell is taking care of the matter and is looking to trace the origin of email in order to identify the sender.

“IKILLU” Death threats for Gautam Gambhir

The threats were reportedly received via a Gmail Account on April 22, the same day when terrorists shot down 26 innocent people, mostly tourists, in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He received two mail threats, the one in the afternoon and another in the evening–both containing the message “IKillU.”

This isn’t the first time the coach has received death threats; he also received one of those back in November 2021. During his tenure as a sitting Member of Parliament, he had also received a similar email.

Gautam Gambhir On Pahalgam Terror Attack

Gautam Gambhir has posted on his ‘X’ account about the attack and strongly demanded an action response from the Government over the issue. And the threat situation seems to have arisen after he expressed his condolences to those affected.

“Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam,” he tweeted on X on April 22 evening, the same day he reportedly received the threatening message.
