Wshington Sundar

Washington Sundar made an impact in GT’s innings and brought an unbelievable stable innings for the team. Chasing a target of 153, Gujarat opened with Captain Shubaman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, but SRH got its early success and dismissed in-form batter Sai for just 5 runs and then continued the early success with Jos Butler’s wicket in the powerplay.

Following the early dismissals, Gujarat made a change in their usual batting order and called Washington to bat at number four. Coming to bat, Sundar opened the batting with a fiery form and marked his comeback with back-to-back boundaries against Simranjeet Singh bowling in the 6th over.

Sundar shines with a superb Knock against SRH

Coming to bat at fourth place, Sundar came to shine and truly made an impact. He entered the field and then went like he was there to rule. Starting with slow runs, he started to hit for boundaries in the sixth over.

He especially went after Simranjeet Singh, and hit him for 20 runs in a single over. Hitting boundaries after boundaries, Sundar expressed his aggressive approach on the field. Shubman Gill on the other shore matched with his form and built an important partnership that put Gujarat in a strong position against SRH.

Just when it looked like Sundar was going to score his well-deserved fifty a stunning moment happened. He was caught in Mohammad Shami’s bowl. Aniket Sharma made a low catch, which wasn’t clear, but the umpires called it out. The moment not just missed his fifty but also took his chance of hitting his IPL career’s maiden fifty.

Still, his 49 runs from 29 balls—with 5 fours and 2 sixes—was a key performance that gave GT a big advantage. It was a smart and confident innings that proved Sundar can handle pressure well with the bat. He played with an early strike rate of 270 on a slower pitch which is just commendable for a player like him with no form in his hand.
