Virat Kohli was seen taking up stand for the newly appointed Captain Rajat Patidar at the RCB Unbox Event on Monday, 17 March 2025. Royal Challenger Bengaluru ex-skipper addressed all the fans present at the boxing event and also made a request for the new Captain Patidar. He urged fans to support and shower love for the new Captain who is expected to lead the Red Army for a longer run.
Virat in the Unboxing event at the Chinnaswamy stadium welcomed his fans and requested his supporters to give the same kind of respect and love to Rajat who will be handling the new Captain duties for the IPL 2025. With the season’s opening match coming closer where Royal Challenger Bengaluru would face the defending Champions KKR, Rajat will begin his campaign as a new skipper.
Kohli’s Heartwarming gesture for Rajat:
Speaking at the old year ritual event, RCB Unboxing event, Kohli took the center stage and made a heartwarming plea to the team fans. He asked fans to show the same amount of love and respect to the new captain that they have been showing to all other captains since the beginning of the event.
“The guy who is going to come next, is the guy who is going to lead you for a long time. Give him all the love you can. He is an amazing talent, a great player we have all seen that but he’s got a great head on his shoulders. He’ll do a great job for this amazing franchise and take the team forward. He’s got everything that is required,” Kohli said at the event.

Kohli who once handled the RCBs captain duties stepped down as skipper in the year 2021 and then Faf Du Plessis led the team till 2024. But in the year 2025, in the mega auction, the franchise released Faf who was purchased by Delhi Capitals at the auction and recently has been appointed as the vice Captain of the DC. Following these events, RCB announced Patidar as their new Captain for the IPL 2025, and citing Kohli’s statement it seems that he is staying for the longer run on the RCB side.

At the event when Patidar took on the stage the fans cheered their hearts and lungs out making it the loudest cheer after the Virat Kohli. Taking on the response and love from fans Patidar acknowledged it. “RCB is one of the biggest franchises in the world and I have the best people around me. Thank you for giving me this opportunity, especially the fans, for showing so much love in the past few weeks and accepting me in this role. “I’ll make sure we do our best and give our everything,” Patidar added.
