Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced Punjab Kings in the IPL Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Punjab Skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli started strongly, showing great intent right from the beginning, but couldn’t take it longer and lost Salt early to Arshdeep’s delivery.
They did start strong but later lost wickets at regular intervals without any major contributions from the middle overs. Virat Kohli tried to build a steady innings and scored the highest for his team today, departing at 43 runs to Omarzai’s delivery. Things did turn in favor of RCB in the 17th over when on strike, Jitesh and Liam Livingstone faced Kyle Jamieson and hit 22 runs in a single over. The batting from the two stunned everyone, and when they hoped for another boundary, they lost Livingstone, who walked back with 25 off 15 balls and 2 sixes.

The 17th over was packed with action as Kyle Jamieson bowled to Jitesh and Liam. Jitesh, who played the first ball to Kyle, smashed it for a six on the first ball over fine leg. After being hit for six, Kyle tried to respond with a slower bouncer, but it went too high and was called for wide. Then on the next ball, Jitesh followed it up with another powerful six by charging down the pitch and long-off.
Livingstone then took a strike and smashed a big six over mid-wicket, continuing the momentum. However, just when it looked like he could take control, Livingstone missed a full toss and was given out LBW after a close umpire’s call review. Despite the dismissal, Livingstone’s quick 25 off 15 balls helped keep RCB in the fight. Jamieson bowled tightly but gave away important runs, while also taking a crucial wicket of Liam, making the over a thrilling turning point in the match.
At the time of writing, RCB is at 187-6 and has lost its important wickets, but is still hopeful for a great end to the final. They would look to put a decent score on the board, giving Punjab a bit of a difficult comfortable chase.
