Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history at INR 27 crore, was bought by LSG in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He was dismissed for just 2 runs against the Mumbai Indians in the 16th match of the season at the Ekana Stadium. Notably, the left-handed batter who is also the captain of LSG has just managed to score 19 runs in 4 innings this season.
The 27-year-old comes out to bat at number four after a strong start given by Mitchell Marsh but fails to score big runs once again as he got caught out on 2 runs off 6 balls against Hardik Pandya. This is his fourth failure in four innings for the franchise.
He scored a six-ball duck in the first match against Delhi Capitals and only managed to score 15 runs off 15 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 191 chase. The left-handed batter got out on 2 runs off 5 balls in the third match against Punjab Kings and scored just 2 runs off 6 balls against Mumbai Indians in his fourth match of the season.

Notably, Rishabh Pant gave an interview talking about his poor form before the Mumbai Indians game, saying the form is not a concern as he is pretty confident.
“I think we are pretty confident as a batting unit. A very strong unit. A few of our players haven’t come off, including me. The general discussion is to go out there and express yourself. We haven’t talked about a target we want to achieve. Just play the ball, watch the ball, and react. I think we are pretty confident. I think we are pretty confident. The way I have set up myself. Once we get a start, I will capitalize,” said Pant.
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss in match 16 of the IPL 2025 against LSG at Ekana Stadium Lucknow and elected to bowl first, as most of the teams are doing this season. Raj Angad Bawa is replacing injured Rohit Sharma in the MI squad, while Akash Deep is replacing M Siddarth in the LSG playing XI.
