IPL Season wise Longest Six: From 2008 to 2025
2008: Albie Morkel*124m
Albie Morkel has smashed the IPL all seasons’ longest hit in tournament history. Playing for the Chennai Super Kings, Albie hit a boundary of 124 m in the inaugural season itself, and since then the record has been untouched. He is still at the top of the table and enjoying the legacy he created in 2008.
2009: Yuvraj Singh* 119m
Playing for Kings XI Punjab, Yuvraj registered himself in the list of players with the longest six in IPL history. He also hit the longest six of his season. Singh, who is known for his six-hitting abilities, has this record in his name that truly supports his record.
2010: Robin Uthappa*120m
Undoubtedly the power hitter of his time, Robin Uthappa showed his strength against Dwayne Bravo’s delivery and sent it off the wankhede stadium. Robin hit a towering six of 120 m the longest of the 2010 season. He is a massive six hitter who just gets in line with the ball quickly and has strong forearms which fetch him long sixes.
2011: Adam Gilchrist*122m
Adam brought this record name in his favor while playing in the breathtaking surroundings of Dharamsala. Hitting the boundary against Charl Langeveldt, Adam hit the bowl with a force that covered a distance of 122m, travelling out of the stadium. Gilchrist showcased his power hitting against the Royal Challengers Bangalore while playing for the Punjab team.
2012: MS Dhoni *112m
Facing Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match, Dhoni went all in and hit his favorite Helicopter shot and made a towering six of 112m. Dhoni hit the favorite with tremendous force against a length ball from the Malings and the ball travelled quickly from Dhoni to deep mid wicket, making it the longest six of the IPL 2012.
2013: Praveen Kumar*124m
Playing for RCB, Praveen Kumar achieved the feat while playing against Rajasthan Royals in the year 2013. Facing a delivery from Royals off-spinner Yusuf Pathan he hit the longest six of the season which travelled a distance of 124 making him the player with the longest six so far in the IPL history and not just the season itself.
2014: David Miller*102m
David Miller who was playing for the Punjab Kings side in the IPL 2014 made headlines with his high hitting boundary which was the longest six of the season. He smashed a boundary of 102 m against Royal Challenger Bengaluru. Playing for the team the same year he contributed a good total and helped the team reach finals.
2015: AB de Villiers*108m
AB de Villiers hit the longest of 108m of 2015 season while playing for the Royal Challenger Bengaluru. He hit a total of 30 sixes that season, one being the longest six of the season.
2016: Ben Cutting*117m
Ben Cutting not only hit the longest six of the season while playing in the IPL but also made another record in his name. Playing against RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, he smashed the longest boundary of 117m, making the longest six of the 2017 IPL. Ben knocked the ball out of the stadium against the delivery of Shane Watson, a bowler on the RCB front.
2017:Travis Head*109m
He made headlines for hitting the longest six for the 2017 IPL season. Playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru that season, he hit an air boundary of 109m against Kolkata Knight Riders speedster Umesh Yadav.
2018: AB de Villiers*111m
ABD made the record for the longest six of the IPL 2018 season while playing against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chennai. The record for the longest came in the 11th over while De Villiers was facing Imran Tahir. On the fourth ball of the over, de Villiers sat down on one knee and smashed the ball over the cow-corner in the roof of the Chinnaswamy. He didn’t even bother to look where the ball headed.
2019: MS Dhoni*111m
Playing against Royal Challenger Bengaluru in the league stage match, MS Dhoni hit a towering six against Umesh Yadav’s delivery outside off. Dhoni smashed it skyward, and the ball landed on the roof of the stadium, recording the longest hit of the season.
2020: Nicholas Pooran*106m
Pooran registered himself for the longest six of the 2020 IPL season by hitting an air boundary of 106 m. Playing for the Kings XI Punjab, now known as Punjab Kings, Nicholas smashed the towering boundary six over long-off in the league stage match against SRH Bowler Samad.
2021: Ruturaj Gaikwad*108m
CSK player then and skipper now hit the biggest six of the 2021 season. He smashed a 108m maximum against the Rajasthan Royals. Ruturaj hit this record with the fifth six of his innings. Smashing this record-breaking six, he smashed the earlier longest six of the season, which was registered in the name of Kieron Pollard.
2022: Liam Livingstone*117m
Liam Livingstone hit the longest six for the IPL 2022 Season. Playing for the Punjab Kings, he hit the longest air boundary for 117m against Mohammad Shami. The short was the longest of the season and left everyone in awe.
2023: Faf Du Plessis*115m
Faf, skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, smashed a 115m six against Lucknow Super Giants. Faf pulled out this air delivery out of his innings against Ravi Bishnoi at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and smashed the six over deep mid-wickets, throwing it out of the stadium. The South African hit a total of five sixes and as many fours in his unbeaten 46-ball 79, as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a mammoth 212 for two in 20 overs.
2024: MS Dhoni* 110m
The longest six of the 2024 season came from the bat of MS Dhoni. The CSK legend owned the record for hitting against RCB bowler Yash Daya and smashed it straight out of the park during the final game of the league stage.
2025: Travis Head*106m
As of present, the longest six of the ongoing 2025 season remains with Travis Head, who hit a long air boundary of 106 meters in the opening match of their campaign against the Rajasthan Royals.
