Jasprit Bumrah set to miss start of IPL 2025

Jasprit Bumrah, the spearhead of Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack, is set to miss the initial matches of IPL 2025 as he is still recovering from his lower back injury in BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore. According to the reports, Bumrah is expected to join the MI camp in early April, and the five-time IPL team has three games scheduled in March.

Jasprit Bumrah, arguably the best all-format fast bowler in the world, got injured during the last Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 in Sydney. The 31-year-old is still recovering from his injury, and according to ESPNcricinfo, the pacer is expected to join the Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025 in early April. 

Now it is almost clear that he will miss at least the first three games for MI, which are scheduled for March against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Kolkata Knight Riders. The team will go against Lucknow Super Giants on 4th April in their fourth game of the season and play Royal Challengers Bangalore in the fifth game on 7th April. 

Bumrah is MI’s prime bowler, who was retained by the team at INR 18 crore as the top retention. Bumrah is the key to MI’s bowling attack, including names like Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Mitchell Santner. The pacer has played a total of 133 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians and took 165 wickets with an average of 22.51 and an economy of just 7.30.
