Match 64 of the Indian Premier League will see Gujarat Titans locking horns with Lucknow Super Giants. The match is set to be played on the grounds of Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, and will start from 7:30 PM. Facing LSG in this match, GT has prepared a special tribute for the people who have won a battle against Cancer and will don a lavender jersey to create awareness regarding Cancer. The franchise has informed and updated fans about the same in a social media post on May 17.
“Continuing this novel initiative for the third consecutive year, the Titans aim to raise awareness about the critical importance of early detection and access to quality care for cancer patients,” the Ahmedabad-based franchise said in a statement. “The match against Lucknow Super Giants is going to be a special one as Gujarat Titans plan not only to bat for cancer survivors and patients, but also to unite the fans for the cause by distributing thirty thousand lavender flags and ten thousand lavender jerseys amongst them,” it added.

Keeping the legacy Alive since 2023
The Gill-led Gujarat Titans will be wearing this jersey for the third consecutive year. The team started the tradition in the year 2023, and IPL 2025 marks the third year of the tradition. The trend started with the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the very next year, when the team won the title in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They continued the trend in 2024 when they wore lavender jerseys against KKR, and now they are set to pay tribute to all those survivors and people who are battling against Cancer to spread awareness.
However Gujarat isn’t alone the franchise who wears a special jersey for a novel social cause. The trend for donning a special jersey started way back in the year 2015, when RCB donned a green color jersey to spread awareness about Environment. Rajasthan Royals also wore a pink jersey this season showing their support to women.
Why is Gujarat Titans wearing different Jersey Against LSG?
Gujarat Titans are donning in Lavender Jersey than the usual blue one as a team effort to show support to fight the battle against Cancer. Speaking of the change, here is what Captain said, “As athletes, we recognize the platform we have to influence change. Wearing these lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer warriors and honouring their resilience,” said Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill.
“We believe that through awareness and education, we can empower individuals to take charge of their health and contribute to a future where cancer is no longer a formidable foe.”
