Former Punjab Kings player, Virendra Sehwag, took a dig at the poor performance from Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone and criticized their intent in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 season. Failing to impress fans, franchise, and commentators, the players were recently dropped from playing XIs of the respective teams. Sehwag, addressing their form, said they do not have any visible desire to fight for their teams and even mentioned that IPL looks like a holiday season for them.

Sehwag who long known to have a relationship with controversy has once again found himself in another controversy with Maxwell added by Liam Livingstone.

Yeh yaha holiday manane aate hai, holiday banaakar chale jaate hain; Sehwag

Virendra Sehwag, took a brutal dig at the players after their poor performance in the ongoing league and was left unimpressed with the way the duo plays.

“I feel like Maxwell and Livingstone’s hunger is gone. Yeh yaha holiday manane aate hai, holiday banaakar chale jaate hain. (they just come here for a holiday). They arrive, have their fun, and leave. There’s no visible desire to fight for the team,” he said.

“I’ve spent time with a lot of former players, but only 1 or 2 really gave me the feeling that, ‘Yes, I genuinely want to do something for the team’,” he added.

When asked who are the best overseas players who play with Intent and give their best for their franchise, Shewag appreciated AB de Villiers, David Warner and McGrath.

“David Warner, AB de Villiers, McGrath… McGrath used to ask, ‘Why am I not playing, make me play and I’ll win you the match.’… these three players were different otherwise there have been a lot of players, Sri Lankan, West Indian, who come and go. You get to know these things when you lose a semi-final or a final and they ask, ‘Where’s the party?’ There’s no regret of losing. They are just relieved that IPL is over and they can go back home,” he said.

IPL 2025: Maxwell and Liam Livingstone

Maxwell, who once played under Virendra Sehwag’s leadership, was excluded from the playing XI in their latest match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Similarly, Liam Livingstone, who has struggled to find form this season, was also replaced by Romario Shepherd for the reverse fixture between PBKS and  RCB at Mullanpur Chandigarh stadium. While Maxwell has scored just 41 runs and taken 4 wickets, Livingstone has scored just 87 runs.
