Chennai Super Kings concluded the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League on a positive note on Sunday with a win on their side against table topper Gujarat Titans. Facing GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium, CSK posted their highest total of the season, 230 runs, which surprisingly proved too much for the home side, as a margin of 83 runs defeated them. Despite struggling throughout the season, CSK won their final match in style. Their top-order and middle-order batted so well that MS Dhoni didn’t even get a chance to come out and bat, much to the disappointment of his fans, as they couldn’t see him bat last time this season.

Later on in the post-match conference, addressing the speculation around the MS Dhoni retirement, the captain said, “It depends. I have four to five months to decide. There’s no rush. I need to ensure my body stays in shape. You have to be at your peak to compete. If players started retiring based on form, some would hang up their boots at 22. I’ll head back to Ranchi and enjoy some bike rides.”He added, “I’m not saying I’m done, but I’m also not committing to a return. I’m fortunate to have the luxury of time. I’ll reflect and make a decision when the time feels right.”

MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL continues to be a topic of speculation, but the legendary cricketer has chosen not to reveal his plans just yet. Following CSK’s clash with GT, Dhoni neither confirmed his retirement nor committed to another season, instead, he stated that he would take the time before making his final decision.

Chennai Super Kings IPL 2025 Season

Talking about the forgettable 2025 IPL Season, Dhoni admitted that the team’s batting let them down this season and they couldn’t have the season that they had expected. “We didn’t have a good season; it was one of those perfect performances (vs GT). We haven’t caught very well, but the catching was good today. When we started the season, the four games were in Chennai. We decided to bat second, but I felt the wicket was good for batting in the first innings.

Winning the last match against GT with a dominant score, CSK finished at the bottom of the table this season. With just four wins out of the total 14 matches played, this was the first time the team has finished at the bottom of the points table. Before the IPL 2025, the team was among the top franchises that never finished last on the points table
