Featuring some prominent names, PBKS has won four out of their first six games this season but has yet to unlock their full potential in batting, especially with the form of Glenn Maxwell, whose performances have not been up to the mark.

After one more batting failure from Glenn Maxwell, former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull has asked captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting to make a harsh call on the Australian all-rounder.

Maxwell is a key player for Punjab Kings in the middle order who brings firepower and experience to the table, but he is yet to come to the party with his performances. In six matches, he has scored 41 runs with an average of 8.20 and a strike rate of 100.00 in IPL 2025.

Simon Doull believes that the Punjab Kings must play Azamatullah Omarzai or Josh Inglish by dropping out-of-form Glenn Maxwell.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Doull said, “I think Maxwell has had his run. I mean, just the way he’s getting out at the moment, it would frustrate me as a coach. That’s the disappointing thing, I think, from their point of view. So Omarzai’s in for him, Inglis is in for him, and that would be something I’d probably look at.”

Punjab Kings bought Glenn Maxwell for INR 4.2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He is a key player in PBKS’s batting lineup, which is filled with a lot of young, uncapped Indians. The 36-year-old has taken 4 wickets with the ball, but he needs to step up with the bat.
