The Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League due to a Groin Injury. Gujarat Titans announced the news on Saturday and released a statement, “sustained a groin injury during the IPL contest against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6,”

Glenn Phillips who was bought by Gujarat Titans, didn’t feature in the playing XI so far and now has returned to his home without having played any match this season.

Phillips, who wasn’t part of the playing XI for the Gujarat Titans, sustained the injury when he came on the field as a substitute player against the Sunrisers Hyderabad but couldn’t stay long and managed just four deliveries on the field. In the fifth over of the SRH innings, during Prasidh Krishna’s over, when Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy took a quick single, he tried to throw the ball quickly from the outfield, but suddenly fell, holding his groin in pain and then walked off the field with help of GT’s support.

After announcing his unavailability Gujarat is yet to announce his replacement. This is the second time when the team is going through the squad changes and Phillips became the second overseas to exit GT’s squad. Earlier Kagiso Rabada returned home due to his personal reasons.

GT picked up Phillips for his base price of ₹2 crore during the auction. He had earlier impressed with a strong performance for New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy, where the team reached the final. The BCCI is expected to make an official announcement about his exit soon. GT is scheduled to play Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 26 of IPL 2025 on Saturday. The match will begin at 3:30 PM IST.
