England’s All-rounder, who left the IPL 2025 for his national duties, has shown an incredible performance for his home team. Jacob Bethell has made headlines recently with a brilliant performance in England’s first ODI against the West Indies. The young batter scored a powerful knock of 82 runs off just 53 balls, smashing 8 fours and 5 sixes. His efforts played a big role in England’s massive 238-run win, and he walked away with the player of the match award.

Talking with Sky Sport Cricket, Bethell didn’t just talk about his batting. Instead, he shared how much his time in the IPL 2025 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru had helped shape his form. And the one name that left a lifetime impression on his form is none other than the King Kohli, Yes! Bethell gave credit for his match-winning knock against West Indies to his IPL teammate, Virat Kohli.

Bethell Credits Kohli’s influence in his better form

Bethell said being a part of the IPL and sharing a space with top players like Kohli had a huge impact on him; he didn’t hold back on crediting Kohli for his growth and said, “I really found that experience very beneficial for my game. I feel like I am a better player now than I was two months before I went to India,” Bethell said in an interview with Sky Sports Cricket.

Virat Kohli was great with the information and how he goes about his batting. All I had to do was ask, and he was happy to share. That intensity he brings just being out there with him you can feel the energy. That’s something I want to bring into my game.

“I was always going to be in the IPL after I signed that contract. I watched the boys do well from afar and really enjoyed it, Andy Flower was also a great coach at RCB. But it was Virat who left a lasting impression. His energy, the way he prepares, and how he carries himself under pressure… I’ll carry that with me.” he said.

Apart from Kohli, he also thanked RCB coach Andy Flower, saying that the support and learning environment helped him feel more confident and prepared.

RCB acquired the services of Jacob Bethell for 2.6 crore in the 2025 mega auction, and he did play a few matches for the franchise before he returned to his country to take care of the national duties. He played two matches this season with Kohli and scored 97 runs in 59 balls.
