After hosting an ICC event after almost 30 years and then failing to even reach the qualifiers, Pakistan was eliminated way before the tournament could proceed to the playoff stage.
With the ongoing online buzz on BCCI and Indian Cricket online, another Pakistani legend, Inzaman ul ha,q has started a rift and a controversy against the BCCI. He urged other boards to boycott the IPL(Indian Premier league) and joined the ongoing controversy over India playing all their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai with Nasser Hussain and Mike Atherton.
He urged all boards to stop sending their players to IPL and break the dominance of BCCI on cricket all over the world.
Inzamam-Ul-Haq on BCCI
Taking a dig at Indian players’ relaxation for Champions Trophy matches. Inzaman-ul-haq was seen convincing other countries not to send their own players to Indian Land, citing the BCCI denial over sending players to Lahore for Champions Trophy Matches.
Speaking on a Pakistani TV channel, Inzamam said: “Keep aside the Champions Trophy. Top players participate in IPL, but Indian players don’t participate in other leagues. Other boards should stop sending their players to IPL. If you (BCCI) don’t release your players for leagues, then other boards should take a stance.”
His statement came after the host had been eliminated from the tournament. After the elimination, both England and Pakistan players are taking a toll on Indian players’ relaxation and advantage for playing in the Dubai stadium.
BCCI and Champions Trophy Policy
Amidst the controversy, BCCI has denied the Indian players to travel to Lahore citing security concerns and with this ICC has arranged for an Hybrid Model for Indian team.
Currently, the BCCI restricts its players from competing in international leagues, whereas cricketers from around the world (except Pakistan) participate in the IPL. For an Indian player to participate in the international leagues, they must retire from Indian cricket, including the IPL. Until retirement, they are only allowed to play List A and county cricket in England. Additionally, players who compete in foreign leagues cannot return to BCCI-sanctioned events.
