The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially confirmed that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will host the next three ICC World Test Championship (WTC) finals in 2027, 2029, and 2031. The decision was announced during the ICC Annual Conference 2025, held this week in Singapore.
The announcement followed England’s successful track record of hosting the WTC finals in 2021(Southampton), 2023 (The Oval) and the most recent cycle in 2025 at Lord’s where South Africa defeated Australia by five wickets to lift the Test mace.
Richard Gould, the ECB chief executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals. It’s a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games. Hosting these finals is a privilege, and we look forward to working with the ICC to build on the success of the previous editions.”
Lord’s, often regarded as the “Home of Cricket” staged the 2025 final in June, where Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada helped South Africa to dethrone the defending champions, Australia.

Apart from confirming the WTC Final announcement, the ICC addressed multiple key updates during the conference, including developments related to the Afghanistan women’s cricket, the status of USA Cricket and the induction of two new ICC Members.
With this confirmation, England solidified its spot for the long-term home of the ICC World Test Championship Final, and this decision might disappoint cricket fans in other nations, especially India, which had shown interest in hosting the iconic event. However, as for now, Test Cricket’s most prestigious battle finals will continue to unfold on English soil up until the 2031 WTC Final
