The future of the Indian Premier League was hanging by a thread when BCCI announced a week’s suspension amidst the ongoing Indian Pakistan border conflicts. However, in the recent development around the conflicts, two days after the event on Saturday, May 10, it was announced that, starting 5 pm IST, both India and Pakistan would be on ceasefire. This means that fans can hope that the tournament can resume soon after the completion of its one-week suspension. But even before the announcement of the ceasefire was announced, BCCI was ready with Plan B, which ensured that the IPL 2025 was about to resume soon after the one-week Suspension.
Notably, the league was suspended for a week on May 9 and the matches were postponed. The IPL match 58 was also paused and then later was suspended due to security reasons. As tensions between the nations rose high, IPL governing body and BCCI deemed it fit to suspend the league. However with the ceasefire being announced the league is likely to start the very next week, the dates and venue around the same are yet to be announced soon.
IPL 2025 likely to be resume with the PBKS vs DC Match
Indian Premier League was suspended after the match between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals due to security reasons. But now with the ceasefire announced, it’s clear that the league will get back on track soon after the suspension. However, there is no update on the resumption date of IPL 2025, but it is certain that the league will continue with the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals match. So far, 58 matches have been played, including the PBKS vs DC match 58, and the remaining 18 matches will take place soon after a week.
According to a report from ESPN, the BCCI had devised a Plan B for conducting the remaining 16 IPL 2025 matches, including four playoffs, at just one or two locations, effectively reducing the need for movement among players, support staff, and broadcast crew. The remaining matches will be likely to be played across three venues, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
