Virat Kohli, man of records and consistency, has conveyed his intent to retire from Test Cricket. Earlier than this, Kohli has communicated to the BCCI that he wants to retire from the longest format of cricket, but the Board of Control for Cricket in Indian has urged the cricketer to rethink his decision and then revert back with a decision. The 36-year-old batter is likely to retire ahead of the England tour and will be unlikely to be part of the test squad for the Men In Blue.

In a  heartfelt and emotional appeal, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has requested Viart Kohli not to retire from Test Cricket. Rayudu, who has played alongside Kohli and witnessed his incredible journey up close, expressed what a million of fans feel at the moment hearing about the news of the player’s retirement. Describing Kohli as the heartbeat of Indian cricket, Rayudu feels that Kohli has a lot to offer in the red ball format.

Ambati Rayudu took to social media to post an emotional message for the legendary batter. “Virat Kohli please don’t retire.. The Indian team needs you more than ever. You have so much more in the tank. Test cricket will not be the same without you walking out to battle it out for Team India.. Please reconsider,” Ambati Rayudu wrote on X.

Rayudu emphasized how the former Captain’s presence in the dressing room and his intensity on the field lift up everyone around him. Further, he also talked about his ability to deliver under pressure is irreplaceable, and Test Cricket without him wouldn’t be the same as it used to be earlier.

Virat Kohli is reportedly considering retirement and has informed the management. The BCCI has asked him to reconsider. With Rohit Sharma retiring and Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness uncertain, Kohli’s exit could leave India with an inexperienced squad and no confirmed captain ahead of the England Tour. He has played a total of 123 Test matches and 210 innings, and has amassed a total of 9239 runs, having faced 16,608 deliveries. Kohli made his Test Cricket debut in the year 2011, and since then, he has smashed 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries in the format. If he announces his retirement officially, then he will retire as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in the red ball cricket format.
