Rajasthan Royals Sawai Mansingh stadium receives bomb threat

Rajasthan Sports Council President Neeraj K Pawan said a threat to blow up the SMS Stadium was received in an email. “I informed senior officials after which a search operation was conducted in the stadium in the presence of senior police officers. Bomb squad and dog squad have also been deployed at the stadium, which has been evacuated,” he said. He further informed that the Cyber Crime unit was also informed, and the team is investigating the matter. All the players and all the staff have been evacuated. “There is no need to panic as the police are on high alert,” he said.

The mail followed the earlier bomb threat received by Cricket Associations of Bengal during Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings Match 57 at the Eden Gardens. The email was found in CAB’s mail box during the match hours. Authorities were alerted at the same moment and security measures at the stadium were made stronger to keep the players, fans and staff safe.
