Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, has dropped a bold prediction for Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar. Known for his bold and outrageous personality, he is in headlines after he claimed that Arjun would be the next Chris Gayle if he focuses on his batting more than bowling. He went on to say that when Jr. Tendulkar was under his training, he achieved notable success and even scored a century on his Ranji debut.
“With regards to Arjun, I said, focus less on his bowling and more on his batting. But if Yuvraj – he and Sachin are so close – takes Sachin’s son under his wings for three months, I bet he will become the next Chris Gayle. Often, it happens that a fast bowler, if he undergoes a stress fracture, cannot bowl as effectively. I think that Arjun should be handed over to Yuvraj for a while,” Yograj Singh told CricketNext.

Yograj who has trained Master Blaster’s son previously, though the training wasn’t a long one gave insight on his training sessions with Arjun. He said that the training was aimed at enhancing Arjun’s batting skills. Moreover, Yuvraj suggested that Arjun Tendulkar could be the next Chris Gayle considering the fact that the God of Cricket itself has placed his trust in him to guide his son.

Yograj Singh on Abhishek Sharma
Further in the chat, Yograj made a few more revelations and shared how the Punjab Cricket Association had classified him as a bowler at the beginning of his career.
“We had asked a list of Abhishek Sharma’s performances from the PCA and the coaches. Do you know what they said? ‘Sir, he is a bowler. He bowls’. Yuvi said, ‘You just look at his performance records.’ So, when we saw the record, Abhishek already had 24 hundreds. Yuvi said, ‘Why are you giving wrong information? Why? This man has made 24 centuries’. This was six or seven years ago,” Yograj was quoted as saying by News18 Punjab.
“And when Yuvi sent that record to me, he said, ‘Papa, look at this player.’ I said, ‘Look, this is all about sharing information. This is the problem; some people want to finish the player out of jealousy instead of making their own career,” he added.
Arjun Tendulkar who has been bought by Mumbai Indians in the mega auction is yet to play for MI in this 2025 season. Though he went onto make his IPL debut in the 2023 season and up until now, he has played five games in the IPL.
