Rajasthan Royals are set to face the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 35 of the Indian Premier League. The match is scheduled to be played on the Royals’ home ground, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Winning the toss, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant invited the home team to bowl first.
There was a little funny moment at the toss, Parag flipped the coin but Pant didn’t call. They had to toss it again, Pant called tails and got it right. Announcing the playing XI for today, Rishabh Pant went with the same old, with a change Prince came in for Akash Deep in the squad. However, Royals misses Skipper Sanju Samson, Parag will lead the team today in absence of Sanju.
Why is Sanju Samson not playing in the RR vs LSG match?
Sanju Samson is set to miss today’s game following the injury he sustained in the previous game. Riyan Parag will lead the Royals today. Sanju Samson hurt his side while trying to play a cut shot in the Royals last outing against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (April 16) which forced the Royals captain to walk off ‘retired hurt’. He mentioned in the post-match interview that he feels alright but the exact extent of the injury remains to be unknown.
Missing this match suggests that his injury is more serious than it looked on the field. There is no update on when he will rejoin the team, and as of now, RR fans will hope for his speedy recovery.
