Releasing the video of the Robot’s edition, the IPL has invited fans to suggest a name for the robot. “We want you to name our latest team member,” Morrison said in the video.
After the video release, fans of the game flooded the comment section with quirky, funny names like “Willow, Zipli and also a user suggested “Stumpy” for the IPL robot dog! It’s short, cute like a pet, and swift like a stump flying after a perfect yorker.”
“Our newest member of the IPL broadcast team,” Morrison said, introducing the dog. “It can walk, it can run, it can greet but most importantly, this is pet vision, which gives a whole new energy, a whole new dynamic to the broadcast. This fellow is absolutely sensational. And it stands on its hind legs and shows the love pose. As I said, be wary, don’t get too close! … We need your help in [picking] a name for it. Stay tuned to the IPL broadcast and you can be a part of the naming of this,” he added. Danny Morrison introduced the robot and also showcased some of the moments with it, like prompting it to make a heart, greet, and even having a small competitive race with it.
In the released video, the Robot can be seen interacting with players of the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals during their match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. While Hardik Pandya looked Curious, DC captain Axar Patel was puzzled, and Mumbai’s Reece Topley got scared when it stood up.It’ll be interesting to see how the league uses the robot in its coverage.
