Ahead of the upcoming IPL Season, the Gujarat Titans have appointed Australian Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade as Assistant Coach for the IPL 2025 Season.
Starting on 22 March 2025, IPL is coming bigger for the 18th edition. The tournament will begin with the opening match between defending Champions KKR and RCB at Eden Garden.
Matthew Wade joins the Squad
An announcement about the star joining in came on Saturday, 8 March 2025. Titans made it official with a post on X mentioning, “We love this Saturday Surprise, Wadey! π Welcome back as our ππ¬π¬π’π¬πππ§π ππ¨πππ‘. “

Matthew has been with the team for the last two seasons and was also on the team’s winning side in the IPL 2022. He played for the franchise in 2022 and 2024. Although the wicketkeeper wasnβt part of the IPL Mega Auction following his retirement from international cricket.
Joining GT, he will now take on the responsibilities of Assistant coach and will join the coaching staff along with Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, and assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi in the Titans.
IPL 2025 and Matthew Wade
Matthew has worked with the team in the past IPL seasons and has assisted the team for a shorter time span of 15 matches. He was with the team when Hardik was Captain for the Titans, and the team won its first IPL Title.
With the upcoming IPL 2025 coming in, Gujarat will kick off the season with its first match on 25 March 2025.
