India defeated Australia in the 1st semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, thanks to an outstanding inning by Virat Kohli under pressure. KL Rahul finishes the match with a six to take India to the finals, which is set to be played on 9th March in Dubai against the winner of the New Zealand vs South Africa.
While batting first, Australia put up a total of 264 thanks to Steven Smith and Alex Carey’s half centuries. Smith scored 73 runs off 96 balls while Carey played attackingly with 61 runs off 57 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six. Mohammad Shami emerged as the most successful bowler for India with 3 wickets of Cooper Connolly, Steven Smith, and Nathan Ellis. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja both took 2 wickets each, while Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel got 1 each.
Chasing 265 India loses both of their openers under the powerplay but Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer stood tall. Virat scored 84 runs off 98 balls and also won “Player of the Match” for this inning. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya gave finishing touches to eliminate Australia from the Champions Trophy 2025.
